Warakirri reaffirmed Carbon Neutral

We’re pleased to announce that Warakirri has had its Carbon Neutral certification reaffirmed for the latest 2021-22 reporting period. Warakirri has been certified Carbon Neutral for its business operations by Climate Active – a partnership between the Australian Government and Australian businesses to drive voluntary climate action.

In the latest reporting period Warakirri supported two important carbon offset projects. The first is an Australian based cultural fire project provided by the Aboriginal Carbon Foundation. This project supports rangers and Traditional Owners to manage country and take action on climate change through cultural burning practices. The second is the Rio Anapu Pacaja project, protecting over 165,000 hectares of land in a highly critical region of the Brazilian Amazon. In addition, this project supports the local Riverine people with cookstoves and improved accommodation.
